Major music projects:

HEROIC PROJECT

Heroic#1 “ANTARCTIC”

dedicated to Robert Falcon Scott of Antarctica, unlucky South Polar explorer.
a solo guitar piece; microtonal soundscapes, noise and drones made using guitar feedback accompany an incredible monotony of Antarctic landscape along with richness of subtle nuances, produced by the slightest changes of light. VJ Yuri Elik is making a video show based on ice- hummock and snow landscapes.

Heroic#5 “INVINCIBLE (Niezwyciezony)”
based on Stanislaw Lem’s novel.

Another solo (musically) piece including prepared guitar and laptop. Free improvising, noise and dramatic form makes this horror story very impressive with unbelievable pictures of extraterrestrial landscapes.

SILENCE CORPORATION

Collaborative Russian/American project established in New York during the HABITATS 2006 festival. Includes Alexei Pliousnine – guitar, laptop; Pavel Mikheev – guitar, laptop; Dok Gregory – steel guitar, laptop, Zarah Cabacas – alto saxophone, Yuri Elik – video.

DWA

a guitar duo with Pavel Mikheev from DaDaZu.
«
Using feedback musicians produce microtonal soundscapes, noise, drone structures". “DWA plays soundscapes made by guitar feedbacks. Sometimes it is getting heavy as metal. I’d mention Keith Row, Sunn O))), Giacinto Scelsi along with typical guitar improv like Fred Frith, Henry Kaiser or Derek Bailey

MANDERLBROT

an avant metal, free improv project, video art by Yuri Elik

New and the most extreme trio made a remarkable debut on International Music Forum APOZITSIA 2005 while sharing the stage with Pauline Oliveros and Terry Riley"

Derek Bailey meets Darkthrone

APOSITION Orchestra

An improvising project led by Alexei Pliousnine. The music influenced by free jazz classics along with Russian classic composers; Shostakovich, Stravinsky. Light and video projections by Yuri Elik usually accompany the show.

Dave Lynch - All Music Guide - Simon Magus

... With all the shape-shifting, visions, and psychedelized transformations, one is tempted to draw parallels between Simon Magus and the adventures of Zero the Hero in the Gong trilogy, although the revelations go to Simon's head in a way Zero would probably never allow. In fact, the music — which bears absolutely no resemblance to a ballet in the conventional sense — is at times similar to early Gong circa Camembert Electrique (although sans vocals, so only the liners give a clue about the subject matter). Kahovskij and friends (on bass, guitar, drums, synth, tuba, flute, and the ever-popular quail-pipe) churn out a version of space rock seemingly influenced by the likes of early Gong, Can, and Material,

but alas, the music rarely rises to the level of those antecedents. The recording is a bit thin and hollow and the music simple and repetitive, although there are catchy moments and some interesting sonics here and there. At times the band is fairly successful in bringing' on da space-funk-jazz; Mikhail Kolovskij shows some chops on what can only be described as "fuzz tuba"; and while the squelchy sci-fi sounds of the old U.S.S.R.-made Polyvox synth by Alexei Pliousnine might not transport you to the cosmos,

they are at least entertaining in a retro analog sort of way...

Modern Musiekelad Kinda Musik

“junge welt vom 10_07_2003 - Avantgarde Folklore”

... me and Alexei Pliousnine and the drummer from Aquarium created a soft explosion of sound that shook the rafters in an improv melee that touched upon Beefheart, avant-metal, the freest of jazz improv and fat gonzo rockabilly changes that had the large and supple crowd there transfixed...yes it was a great honor to play in Russia again, I am still buzzing about it and can't wait to play there again!
